We kicked off the New Year by staying up late, watching a movie, eating lots of food and banging pots and pans at midnight! These kids could easily stay up later than me any night of the week! ;)
My dad got right on board with President Nelson's challenge to the women to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. This was issued at Women's Conference in October. I was SO proud of my girls for doing it! Pops did encourage them by saying Cheesecake Factory dinner and dessert were being awarded to all finishers! We had a lovely lunch together! Thanks Pops!
We love cousin time! Dave and Dani had to be out of their house a bunch during January and February while their house was being showed, so they came and hung out lots. We loved it!
Thomas had to get a cavity filled - he was clearly thrilled about it.
Grandma Del had heart surgery in January! She was a rockstar!

Kaley's math is killing me these days. I just pray that she understands it in class, so she doesn't have to beg help from me! We spent HOURS one night on this one assignment! For second term, she switched to another teacher, and it has been much better!
I had a rough weekend in January. (I'm sure there was more than one... but this one was documented). Our ward did youth conference in the Winter this year at Aspen Grove up Provo canyon. This was hard for a couple reasons - this was the first YC since being released from YW president, so I was totally feeling like I was missing out! AND, it was Kaley's first YC!!! I was so sad to not get to go with her, or be there with all my other leader friends. My heart just broke.
And this picture was sent to my sister telling her not to let her babies grow up.
Lucky for me, I did get to catch a glimpse of the fun she was having from my friends that were there.
The rest of us at home went to a BYU game while she was gone.
Bells went to Soldier Hollow with Elsie and friends for Elsie's birthday. So fun!
We don't play video games very often around here - like ever, so when I offer to let kids play the Wii, it is a real treat!
This handsome boy chose a new shirt/tie at Kohl's and I couldn't say no! If he would wear it and not complain, I'm in! I told him that he would have to wear a white shirt when he started going to deacons, but he had a while before then!
In January, I would typically go to work, come home and change into sweats! This was a proof that I DO actually get dressed each day, just only those cute 2nd graders ever see it!

These two wrestle all the time. Kaley likes to pin T down and tickle him with her hair.
Bella participated in the school science fair. She chose to learn about making rock candy.
T and his Bantam team played a tough game in Orem. I can't remember details, but I texted Kaley telling her that she was really missing a doozy!

While cleaning out a cupboard, Soph found my old glasses - that I wore in FOURTH GRADE!!! Since she's in 4th grade, we had to try them on her!
Cosmo and the BYU Dunk Team came to Riverview! It was such a fun assembly!
Jace showed Cosmo his one-armed push-ups. This kid is insanely strong, btw. He is the muscliest 9 year old I know!
And, Bells had her arm signed by the BYU players.
New Beginnings for Kaley! She looked SO grown up this night! I'm sure it was not just that she was standing next to a bunch of 11 year olds either!

We had a great RS activity where we talked about mindfulness. I really loved this quote! It has helped me try to see the "other side" when I have been hurt or offended.

For Kaley's birthday, we gave her tickets to a Kelly Clarkson concert! We had to wait clear til January 30 to use them!!! But it finally came, and we had SO much fun! We went out to eat at Chili's down town, then over to the concert. Our seats were pretty high up, but we had a great view! And the sound was not affected by it at all! Our hearts pounded to the beat all night!
My favorite part was Kaley's first time with an encore experience! It felt like Kelly took forever to come back out for the encore. People were leaving... and Kaley was getting nervous, like why are we still here? I kept telling her to wait for it... It's going to be great! Then, like magic, she comes up OUT of the stage on a pedestal in a gorgeous dress. She sings .... HAMILTON!!!! WHAT?!?!?!? It's Quiet Uptown. Like our favorite song. Followed by a song from The Greatest Showman. We were in heaven! Then she sang one of her oldies, and I died. It was the best night! I will never forget the look of amazement when Kelly came up out of the stage and sang Hamilton. Kaley is obsessed with Hamilton. Seriously, the best night!
