May Madness - Part 5: Easton Baby Blessing and Temple Square

Easton David was blessed the first weekend in May!  Look at this cute family!

Since we were already so far north, we decided to stop at Temple Square and walk around to see the flowers.  It was lovely!

May Madness - Part 4: Seussical the Musical!

We did a school musical this year for the first time ever!  Seussical the Musical - Kids!  A couple of the teachers in 2nd grade were the directors, and a bunch of other teachers helped with everything from costumes, to stage sets, to music, and choreography!  I helped with music and whatever else they needed.  They held rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in January.  I teach piano on Tuesdays, so I primarily helped with Thursday's cast.  There were so many kids that auditioned, so they had 2 ensemble casts.  The leads stayed the same for both casts.  

It was SO much fun!!!  I feel like it brought all the kids in the musical closer together and bridged the age gap between the kids.  I saw the olders taking care of youngers - and the youngers just adoring the olders.  The kids put SO much work into it, and the performance week was wonderful!  We performed twice for the school - cast A and cast B each did one.  Then we had a Cast A performance night and Cast B performance night.  4 performances in all!  Since I was helping with this, my girls were in both casts - they alternated between "Whos" and "Fish".

This was such a wonderful experience for me and the kids!  I loved being a part of something BIG like this!  My eyes swelled with tears during the last performance.  What a neat thing to have at our school - a chance for these kids to sing, dance and make new friends.  One thing that will stick with me is one of the pre-show cheers. We were standing in a circle and Mrs Nielson asked what parts of the musical were their favorites.  The thing that was said the most was making new friends. Oh my heart was so happy!  We went into this experience knowing a lot of kids, but came out loving even more kids!  It really just cemented in my heart that I am where I need to be - as a worker, with my kids, and for our family.
