We had our Annual Young Women's Retreat January 22-23 this year! Our theme was "Back to Basics - Boot Camp!" We started at the church with check in and Bro Acosta. Chris and I were the recruit officers. ;) The girls checked in and got their t-shirts, dog tags, schedule and water rations.
Bro Acosta taught the girls about taking care of their bodies and ran them through some tough army drills! Boy, these girls are tough!
I did a little Zumba song with the girls - Salute! We had a blast! Then it was off to training!
Sis Heidi taught about GTC - Go To Church.
Sis DeDe taught about PSS - Personal Scripture Study.
We marched (and sang our chants at the top of our voices) down to the Mess Hall at Bro Smith's house. He made us his famous pizzas! YUM!!!
He has a fancy pizza baker out in his garage that bakes them in about 3 minutes!
Then we went over to Camp Ellsworth for the rest of the evening. Chris had decorated her house all official!

Sis Chris taught about ASR - Access Satellite Request or Prayer. :)
I taught mine about STM - Simplify Time Management. Then we had a dance party and did my zumba dance again! So much fun!!!
Eventually the girls settled and went to bed, but us leaders did not! We stayed up all night talking and laughing! It felt so good to just hang out with my friends! I value their friendship so much! What a great blessing it has been to have these built in friends in a calling!
Saturday morning, we went off on a Ruck Pack march. Bishop came and gave the girls backpacks filled with rocks and took them on a couple mile march around the trail. It was cold and those packs were heavy for some of these young girls! Lizzy Henry's pack was the heaviest and she is our newest Beehive. Our hearts just ached for her as her leaders to see her brave through the hike!
Some of us tried to help her every few minutes, but we were told there was no switching packs or carrying it for others.
Then we stopped by the river for a mini lesson about our Savior and His Atonement. It was a really sweet time with our Bishop and the young women. See that big rock? It was in Lizzy's back pack!
We hustled back for breakfast and some more training. I ran to Kaley's basketball game to coach and came back in time to play games and make Blessing Bags for the homeless. It was a great service project! I just love this activity every year! The time spent with these girls and the leaders is always amazing!
